A’Zariea Marie Baker, Age 7.
MARCH 26, 2026 · Seven years old · Her light is still saving lives.
Sometimes in life, tragedy arrives in a way no family is prepared for. On March 26, 2026 a friend and one incredible mother, Shauntalé, lost her 7-year-old daughter, A’Zariea Marie Baker.
What started as what seemed like a common cold became something no family could have anticipated. A’Zariea was diagnosed with Influenza A & B and Mycoplasma pneumonia attacking the bottom of her right lung. At first it was so small it went undetected about the size of a quarter. By the time it was found, her lungs had collapsed. When doctors tried to intubate her, she coded four times. Each time, she fought her way back. Her strength cannot be fully put into words.
Eventually, her medical team exhausted every available option. Her only remaining path was ECMO life support. A’Zariea fought on that machine until her family heard the words no parent is built to hear: her pupils were no longer reactive. She had suffered multiple brain bleeds one of ECMO’s known risks.
An honor walk was held at the hospital. A’Zariea’s organs were donated to a child in need. Even in the deepest loss, her light is saving another life.
“I am forever grateful that I was chosen to be her mommy for 7 beautiful, unforgettable years.”
If your child is sick trust your gut. Advocate loudly. Ask specifically to have them tested for Influenza A & B and Mycoplasma pneumonia. Early detection changes outcomes. A’Zariea’s story is a gift to every parent paying attention.
Please keep Shauntalé and her family in your prayers. Any support sharing their story or helping with expenses means more than words can say.
Long Live A’Zariea. 🕊️
