About Melanin Bliss Media
Not a brand. A blueprint.
Melanin Bliss Media is the platform defining and operating Health Equity Journalism — a new editorial discipline I founded to do what no other media outlet was doing for Black + Brown communities.
Health Equity Journalism is the editorial discipline of treating information access, narrative accuracy, and institutional accountability as material public health interventions for Black + Brown communities — built bottom-up by founders with operational fluency inside the systems they cover.
It is distinct from health journalism, which only explains. It is distinct from Black media as currently practiced, which moves top-down. It is distinct from advocacy journalism, which takes positions. It is distinct from public health communications, which speak from institutions down.
MB is a 100% Black woman-owned independent cultural digital media platform headquartered in New York, NY. Founded in 2019. Formalized as Melanin Bliss Media LLC in March 2025. The Melanin Memo publishes Monday, Wednesday, Friday. The investigative work — Medicaid Countdown, The Hospital on Your Block, Diagnose Bias, Sounding the Alarm, and more — holds institutions accountable. We do not cover celebrity drama. We do not exploit pain. Every claim is fact-checked. Every problem we name includes a resource.

Every story MB publishes lives inside one of four pillars a ecosystem of coverage designed to serve the whole community, not just one slice of it.

What We're Building Toward
A media platform that becomes the standard for how communities of color are covered, served, and uplifted globally. Not a brand. A blueprint that other outlets can learn from and communities can depend on

What We're Here to Do
Bring world news and current events to POC communities in plain, clear terms fully explained, with sources. Shine light in the dark places. Follow the money. Call out the institutions that profit from systemic oppression. And make sure our community has every resource they need.
Why This Matters Now
The stories that shape policy, economics, and daily life in POC communities are either being ignored or being told wrong. When you put people first everything else, including financial success, naturally follows. That is the only way MB operates.
THE MB TIMELINE — HOW WE GOT HERE
2010— 2015 The Foundation — No vision, no name or idea just a passion to help people Amber grew up in South Central Los Angeles, navigating complex family dynamics, housing instability, & a community that mainstream media often ignores. She survived. She begins building a career in healthcare as an clinician then administrator rising through prestigious medical institutions in the country, building systems, training staff, & occupying rooms most people never access.
2019 — After moving to NYC in 2017. Amber starts her Blog titled My Heart My History which she tells her personal story.
The Calling (2020–2024) Over years of professional excellence, personal reckoning, & spiritual clarity, the vision for MB began to take shape. A platform rooted in truth. Built for communities of color. Powered by a refusal to let a story & the stories of people like hers go untold. The name came the entire vision began to unfold the purpose was already there.
